Yes, the time for making squares has ended, and I'm humbled by the thousands of volunteers throughout the two-year process of the Violet Protest.
A special shout out to Phoebe DeCook of Mantorville, MN who single-handedly managed the database of makers, prepared the heat map on a weekly basis - without fail - and was the overall backbone of the organization of the VP. To Lynn Wendling, who, throughout the makers' volunteer process, prepared all the envelopes, stuffed and organized the inserts, allowing for quick addressing for the mailing of all the volunteer packets. Her work saved hundred of hours of work. To ALL THE AMAZING MAKERS! You have validated the importance of the values we all rallied around. One by one, every square upon the other mounted up to nearly 13,500 squares. They are imbued with such energy, and your earnest desire for a better atmosphere between our lawmakers for the good of us all. Be sure to check out all their work in detail on the Progress page. And to everyone that worked everyday for over a month to sort, package, document and organize the 540 boxes that made their way to each and every lawmaker in DC - thank you. Your time and support in this colossal task was unbelievable! ALL OF YOU, THE VOLUNTEERS OF THE VIOLET PROTEST - you are cherished and so appreciated. |
